The PREMIC project, funded with €600,000 from the PROMETEO 2023 project of the Regional Ministry of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society of the Generalitat Valenciana, investigates the infectious origins of preeclampsia (PE), a severe pregnancy disorder with significant maternal and neonatal mortality. By investigating the potential link between past microbial infections, increased PE risk and how infections lead to PE through endometrial decidualization defects and maternal vascular damage, we aim to uncover pathogen-mediated mechanisms, enhance prevention strategies, and develop new therapies for this disease.
